A Rainy Solution

By on June 24, 2015

It’s been raining quite a bit lately and this basically means a number of things are going just about the wrong way. For instance there is way too much traffic jam. Then there is the issue of UMEME acting up every now and again. As if that is not enough, there are issues with DSTV connectivity whenever it rains.

To make matters every worse, I am now having problems finding my food lady. There is this lady who sells food at the work place. Nowadays when it rains she kind of takes leave of absence. And so today I decided to do something I have been putting off for a while. I decided to try out the Hellofood guys. It has been nearly two months since I had wanted to try this out but I had never really gotten round to it.

Anyway today while at work, seeing as our food lady was nowhere to be seen I decided use Hellofood. I downloaded the app, filled in a few details and then went ahead to navigate the app. Impressive stuff these guys have. I am a techie so I usually judge apps harshly. I was however blown away by the simplicity of the app. And in addition, there was this other thing about suggestions from the various restaurants.

I am not too sure how these guys got to have so many restaurants work with them but I have to be honest and admit that I was impressed by the number of restaurants on there. As I was struggling to zero down on one restaurant, an idea hit me. What if I ordered from two or three restaurants and then see which of them delivered first? What if? And that is exactly what I did. I ordered for juice, food and pizza from separate restaurants. Now before you start wondering how I am able to eat all that stuff, I must mention that I have a bunch of colleagues who simply eat for fun. And they like to have fun – all the time!

I went ahead to place my orders from the different restaurants and in no more than half an hour, all the three orders had arrived. And this kind of impressed me because as someone ordering for the first time, there is little in the way of sympathy. Like I said, I am harsh with first time trials. When all the three orders arrived, I made it a point to tip each of the delivery guys. I wonder how they were able to pull off such timely deliveries with traffic jam issues ruling this city.

I tried out Hellofood because the weather forced me to but I have a feeling this will not be the last time I will use the app … whether the weather be very hot and dry or the weather be very cold and wet.
